biography

Jasmine You entered the visual kei scene after joining 雀羅-jyakura-, an indies band based in Nagoya that managed to become pretty succesful in the scene. After they disbanded in 2003, You decided not to join another full-time band and only played in some session bands.
In 2006 he moved to Tokyo and was invited by his long-time friend HIZAKI to join his solo project. In the meantime he also took part to the theatrical rock show Node of scherzo with HIZAKI, Juka, Kaya and KAMIJO.
 
According to some interviews, it looks like You has never been officially invited to join Versailles. He was hanging around with KAMIJO and HIZAKI a lot at that time and it just felt natural to have him in the band. In the indies days he was in charge of the business side of the band, having a lot of contacts with other musicians, shops and companies.
 
On August 2nd 2009, it was announced that Jasmine You would take a break from the music scene due to his poor physical condition. Due to this matter, Versailles performed as a four member unit at their first major peformance at the SCUBER DIVE festival on August 3rd.
 
In the first hours of August 10th, a shocking announcement reporting that Jasmine You had passed away the previous day was published on the official website. According to his family and friends, his condition had went so bad that during his last days he couldn't even move and was under medical care at his home.
 
Few days before his death, his bandmates brought him to see the night sky of Yokohama, as it was one of his last wishes. On his last evening, he wanted to see the fireworks over the Tokyo Bay but his condition was so poor that he couldn't leave the apartment. He just enjoyed the Tokyo night view from the roof of his apartment.
It was reported he passed away peacefully and looking beautiful as always. He wanted to have his nails done one more time and wear his everyday makeup.
 
A funeral procession with all Jasmine's friends and bandmates was held in Tokyo. Right after that his family brought him back to his hometown in Aichi prefecture where he was visited by his local friends and relatives. The cremation took place on August 12th in Nagoya. As all his Versailles items had been left in Tokyo, he was dressed in his HIZAKI grace project outfit. HIZAKI grace project was the band that made his wish come true one more time after Jyakura disbanded, and he was always listening to them during his last days.
